AUNTY RACHAEL KALOKI
25TH FEBRUARY 2014
Death is nothing at all. You have
only slipped away into the next life. You are still the person who we knew and
still the one that we know and hold dear in our hearts; we still remain to each
other what we were.
We remember the times when we
laughed, cried and joked about, got scolded and righted our ways, got scared
and you comforted us. Your passing one year a go today was a sad and difficult
time for us, but we soldier on spreading what you taught us to transform not
just ourselves but also those around us.
I hope that today everyone reflects
on the extraordinary life that you led, what you epitomized in young women and
girls alike, the standards you set for us and the values you integrated into
our lives. The aim of life is no more to control the mind but to develop it
harmoniously; not to achieve the salvation hereafter but to make the best use
of it here below.
Some of us tend to take the quote, ”Live each
day as if it were your last” literally that it ends up dulling our senses
to the beauty of life around, but could also be a motivator on how we spend our
limited days here on this earth. We all saw that in Aunty Rachael, hence her
life legacy should not be in vain, we should continue to nurture it let her
advice be our guide and the lessons learnt and passed on to us be our light.
You are a sister, a mentor, a
fighter, protector and kin. You are missed and loved by many. You will never be
forgotten because you live in us each day.
